About Newton's · Since 1914

Four generations, one corner.

A family jeweler since 1914, at Fifth and Main in Joplin since 1939.

Our story

One family, since 1914.

George Newton opened the first store with Ora in McAlester, Oklahoma. Twenty five years later the family came to Joplin, and Newton’s has stood at Fifth and Main ever since.

The bench

Made at our bench, by James.

James Newton is the fourth generation and our main jeweler. Alongside the fine jewelry in our cases, he makes one-off pieces for clients, and every repair is done here in house.

Diamond basics

The 4 C's

How the facets are angled. A well cut diamond sends light back up through the top of the stone, so it looks bright from across the room.

We will show you all four on the stone itself, under the loupe, at the store.
